Twitter account of biggies has been hacked, following the bitcoin scam. A handful of the big name’s twitter account verified with blue tick has been compromised and tweets were made from those accounts urging people to send $1000 on a bitcoin wallet and in return, they would be getting $2000 adding the offer would last only for 30 minutes.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama was also on the list along with other big names like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden, and Apple too. In the initial investigation, it has been found that bitcoin address which was used to collect the money has recorded a large number of transactions, suggesting that the scam was successful. Although there is also speculation about scammers generating fake transactions in a bid to make donations looks more veritable.
About the attack, Twitter Official support account said,” We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.”
It has been speculated that hacker has gained access to the Twitter authorization system or staff member through social engineering and gaining access allowing them to post tweets through the accounts of famous celebrities and company. Until the issue gets solved twitter sates verified account would be temporarily halted form tweeting any new tweets.
